Arvest will be spicing things up Saturday, Aug. 24 as they present Chilisalsapeno, an annual event held in conjunction with the 29th annual Frisco Festival held in downtown Rogers, Ark. The event includes a chili cook-off, salsa recipe contest and jalapeño eating contest.

Things will get heated beginning at 11 a.m. as spicy food lovers purchase their $5 taster kits to begin sampling chili from this year’s participants. Each guest will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chili and best decorated booth.

The fun continues at 1:30 p.m. as contestants discover how many jalapenos they can eat in two minutes.  Do you dare? If you do, then sign-up at the Chilisalsapeno Hut in the parking lot at Elm St. and Arkansas St. behind the main stage on Aug. 24 before 11 a.m. All contestants must be at least 18 years of age.

The salsa recipe contest will be judged beginning at 11:30 a.m. If you have the best salsa in town, then enter it into the contest on Aug. 24 before 11 a.m. Entries must include the recipe, name of the salsa chef, a contact number and a jar of the salsa for tasting.

The event concludes with the announcement of the winners for the chili cook-off contest, salsa recipe contest and the jalapeño eating contest. Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each contest and category.
